Job Description:
Riverview Intermediate School is seeking candidates for
paraprofessional for the 26-27 school year. RIVERVIEW SCHOOL

Non-Exempt Summary The Paraprofessional is responsible for
assisting the teacher in the management and instruction of
students. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be
able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The
requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,
skills and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be

functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with the
preparation of instructional materials for students as directed by
the supervisor so that instruction is implemented in a timely
manner. Maintain student records and data related to instruction.
Duplicate materials, type information, except for confidential
student-related material and information (see appendix for
restrictions). Conduct non-instructional classroom duties assigned
by the supervisor so that instruction is implemented in an
efficient and effective manner. Maintain daily student attendance
records. Assist the teacher in instructional activities such as
correcting papers, operating equipment, scheduling for
instructional materials in the building, making instructional
materials, preparing bulletin boards and displays, displaying work,
setting up and maintaining learning centers. Accompany students on
field trips. Escort students to and from various locations in the
building depending upon the needs of the individual students,
including recess, before and after school, lunch, emergency drills,
assemblies, PE, restroom and other places as needed. Assist
students during emergency drills as needed. Supervise students
during outdoor and indoor recess, in the cafeteria, in the hallways
before and after school, and to and from restrooms as assigned.
Monitor the safety of students at all times. Work with an
individual student or a small group of students utilizing the
teacher’s lesson plans. Monitor and reinforce learning of all
students, help students perform activities, assist with student
data collection and assist with implementation of behavior
management programs designed by teacher. Assist in monitoring and
reinforcing overall student behavior and discipline procedures for
students as defined by the school, the classroom and/or the
Individual Education Plan. Supervise students while being
transported to and from school on a bus (optional). Performs tasks
related to the health/hygiene of special education students, as
needed. Attend workshops and in-service training as required by the
District. Serve as a substitute teacher, as assigned. Pre-K
paraprofessionals must attend 30 hours of early childhood PD a year
and meet additional requirements for ABC. K-12 paraprofessionals
need to complete 18 hours initially and then 6 hours of PD
annually. May provide in class support in the general education
class. May provide personal care including toileting assistance,
etc. May provide assistance with transportation. Maintain
confidentiality and assist with data collection. Comply with all
Riverview School Board of Education policies. Perform other duties
as assigned by the teacher and/or administration. Supervisory
Duties Supervises students Qualifications Certificates, Licenses,
Registrations Valid Arkansas Substitute Teacher Certification
Education/Experience Experience in school settings preferred At
least 18 years old Skills and Abilities Language Read, analyze and
interpret administrative procedures and forms and governmental
regulations and guidance written in English; complete forms, write
reports and engage in written correspondence with parents; and
present information effectively and respond to questions.
Computation Have the ability to work with basic mathematical
concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios
and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Solve a variety
of problems in many different situations and interpret instructions
presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Technology
Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and
internet use; use district software for recording grades and
finding student information; and utilize smart boards, projectors
and other instructional technology provided by the district.
Physical Demands An individual who holds this position must have
the ability to speak and hear in an environment where numerous
conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously,
move around the classroom, read handwritten or printed material.
Sometimes the individual will be required to work outdoors for
short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and
unloading students from district transportation and supervising
students during recess. Interpersonal Skills Maintain effective
working relationships with students, co-workers, administrators and
members of the community. Attendance Regular and consistent
attendance is an essential function of this position. ADA
