Together we will lead the transformation of healthcare and society to higher levels of artful and wholeful healing. The Role: The Chief Financial Officer, Whole Health School of Medicine (CFO-WHSOM), will join the Whole Health School of Medicine (WHSOM) Leadership Team to serve as the financial head, ensuring that services are delivered at the highest level of quality in a timely manner. They will be responsible for managing the Accounting and Financial Planning functions including financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis for WHSOM, while working closely with the CFO of the Art and Wellness Enterprise on enterprise-wide financial matters. About the Position: WHSOM is looking for a well-rounded accounting and finance professional with proven strategic and leadership capabilities to develop and manage these functions. The ideal CFO-WHSOM will have a demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing teams, providing executive leadership including financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, defining and updating processes, as well as maintaining complete, accurate and timely books, vetting and implementing accounting and finance systems, as well as developing data integrity and reporting capabilities. What you will do: The incoming CFO-WHSOM will serve as the primary adviser and thought leader on the financial strategic direction of WHSOM, align those strategies with the enterprise financial strategy, building upon existing processes and relationships, as well as developing additional capabilities necessary to effectively execute the vision. WHSOM Policies, Procedures and Systems -- Assess, develop and implement policies, processes and procedures to create a defined and sustainable infrastructure, built to support future growth. -- Review/assess existing accounting and finance systems for WHSOM and recommend improvements to meet current and future needs. -- Ensure appropriate internal controls to safeguard the integrity and security of critical data/functions. -- Set strategies for department coordination on issues related to finance or compliance, translating into new policies and procedures. WHSOM Budget Process -- Serve as a key leader in the budget process, including the effort to create consistency of accounting practices within the departments. -- Spearhead the annual budget process utilizing a rigorous review of current spending and an assessment of the organization's future needs as it evolves to meet requirements. -- Evaluate and adjust financial models, department structures, and operational processes to support the evolving WHSOM needs. WHSOM Accounting and Reporting -- Complete accurate and timely accounting records and associated financial reports. Compile and communicate financial information in a clear and straightforward manner. -- Design and manage efficient accounting and financial systems to track and provide reporting on numerous and varied assets and entities. -- Provide leadership and direction to all accounting and financial planning functions including strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting and finance practices, financial reporting, financial modeling. WHSOM FP&A -- Develop the infrastructure to provide best-in-class financial analyses, modeling, projections and ad hoc reports for project and planning initiatives. Strategically interpret financial information and data to facilitate decision making. WHSOM Tax & Treasury -- Partner with the Tax and Legal teams to optimize tax strategies for all individuals and entities and ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax returns by the Tax Team. -- Manage working capital and cash flow needs for WEI, including capital calls on investments and grantmaking. WHSOM and component entity Team and Relationship Management -- Provide vision, direction and leadership to teams. Act as a player coach, managing direct reports, as well as mentoring and coaching staff at various levels. -- Create a plan for talent development that engages team members and focuses on long term growth opportunities. -- Foster a high performance, collaborative environment in which quality goals are met. -- Promote transparent communication, trust, cooperation and mutual respect for all family clients and staff. -- Collaborate across the organization and the enterprise on key strategic initiatives that require finance and accounting input. -- Continue to refine roles and responsibilities, including accounting methods, for finance, accounting and management functions. Qualifications required for your success: The successful candidate will be a strategic professional with a successful track record in accounting, finance and tax. The individual will have energy, intellectual capacity, strategic business acumen and professional integrity. The ideal background will include: -- 10 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance and tax. -- Experience working in an academically based organization (preferred). -- Strategic thinker who has the ability to proactively anticipate issues and opportunities and recommend value-added solutions. -- A creative developer and effective implementer of solutions to complicated and varied problems. -- Demonstrated ability to serve as an effective partner on a dynamic management team dealing with strategy, financial management and growth. -- Proven ability to build and manage high performing teams of individuals who can consistently deliver against demanding goals in an effective and sustainable manner. -- A track record of creating dynamic environments for talented staff to thrive and build long term careers.
