OverviewSchedule: 7P-7A, rotate every 4th weekend.The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the High Risk Obstetrical Unit (A5). The High Risk Obstetrical unit is located in the UAMS Central Building on the 5th floor. The unit consists of 12 private rooms, as well as a neonatal stabilization area used to stabilize acutely ill neonates with specially trained staff. As the state-wide referral center for high-risk obstetrical patients, the unit provides exceptional care to mothers from across the state who require closer monitoring and observation during their pregnancy and during their postpartum recovery period. The A5 High Risk Obstetrical unit focuses on providing patient and family centered care that is consistent with evidence based practices. Collects and documents assessment data. Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard. Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach. Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes. Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning. Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families. Acts as a resource/supports others. Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality. Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training. Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.QualificationsRequired:Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing. Valid RN License.Minimum of 1 year Registered Nursing experience.Excellent communication skills.Basic computer skills.Strong work ethics and accountability. Preferred:2 or more years nursing experience with current BLS.This position is subject to a pre-employment criminal background [and registry (if applicable)] check [and drug screen (if safety sensitive position)]. A criminal conviction or arrest pending adjudication alone shall not disqualify an applicant. Any criminal history will be evaluated in relationship to job responsibilities and business necessity.
