Overview:
The Medical Assistant ( MA) - is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. The MA works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The MA must pass the required competencies. The MA works within the Department of Nursing standards. Responsibilities:
Provides Care in an Efficient Effective Manner; Organizes own workload to ensure completion during shift, in coordination with R.N. and other team members; Seeks assistance from appropriate staff when necessary; Utilizes down (unproductive) time toward patient and unit activities; Accepts constructive feedback from peers/team members and takes corrective action when needed; Obtains patient report as per unit policy and has on-going communication with R.N. regarding patient care/changes in condition; Informs nurse of patient requests or complaints; Performs other duties as defined by unit check list as delegated by R.N./CDF/CSM; Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients; Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed. - Assists Patient with ADL/Personal Care; Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures; Applies and monitors restraints; Documents patients care per standards; Documents vital signs, ADL, wave tests, I's accurately and timely and per unit and department standards

Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED -Completion of Medical Assistant training from an accredited program; -Computer experience desired, Ability to communicate with staff, patient/families following Guest CARE guidelinesThis is a safety-sensitive position and subject to pre-employment screening (criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification).
