In accordance with our mission and core values, utilizing advanced clinical knowledge and skills, the LVAD nurse will collaborates with physicians to plan, develop and implement the LVAD Heart Clinic. Develops updates and implements clinical standards of patient care and policies/procedures for clinical operations. Collaborates with referring cardiologists/physicians during the patient screening process. Acts as the central point of contact for the patients and families being screened for procedures necessary for the procedure. Coordinates the comprehensive care of the patient. Supports care conferences with the multi-disciplinary staff during the screening process and promotes a team approach to the patient program. Educates the patients and families about upcoming procedures and provides ongoing education to other staff members. Ensures clinical practice and patient care are consistent with policies and procedures. Develops a quality program focusing on patient outcomes, ensuring patient follow up and
maintaining data collection and entry. Coordinates all external and internal communication for the organization. Acts as a representative of the program to both internal and external groups. Consistently supports compliance and the principles of responsibility by maintaining confidentiality, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with integrity, reporting noncompliance, adhering to applicable federal and state laws and regulations and accreditation and licensure requirement. Research duties are to assume responsibility for completeness and accuracy of clinical data entry into InterMACs registry. - Qualifications
Education: - - Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN), MSN preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current unencumbered RN licensure to practice in the State of Arkansas; Membership in professional organizations preferred. BLS preferred. Experience: - Significant experience in cardiovascular nursing (minimum of 3 years). Demonstrated strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate well with physicians and other members of a multi-disciplinary team. Strong computer skills and familiarity with electronic health care records. Skills in database management Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated ability to problem solve and be supportive/innovative in the process of change; strong human relations skills with an ability to handle difficult/sensitive issues with regard to patient confidentiality; excellent written/oral communication skills; knowledge of electrophysiology procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining research related to the department.
