reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay

**Responsibilities**
+ Monitors the laboratorys information system to assure system
integrity and optimum performance. Evaluates system file sizes,
identifies software problems, and either resolves or reports these
problems to the software company.
+ Communicates to the software vendor requesting updates on
reported software problems, pricing information, and schedules for
new releases and upgrades of the software.
+ Assists in maintaining the computer hardware. Troubleshoots
printer and terminal malfunctions, and requests field service for
hardware maintenance when necessary.
+ Coordinates the design, implementation and ongoing monitoring of
appropriate audit systems to ensure compliance with Federal and
corporate business practices.
+ Coordinates with the Laboratory Information Services
Coordinators, Section Managers/Supervisors and Section Database
Coordinators in the development of new procedures.
+ Ensures that all laboratory procedures in the LIS and HIS are
accurately set up, maintained and documented. The areas could
include but are not limited to Interfacing, Results, Charting,
Billing, CPT Coding and Charge Master.
+ Cooperates with IS in maintaining and updating communication
programs between the LIS and with HIS.
+ Cooperates with Financial Services or other hospital departments
on management and budget reports including but not limited to
historical trending benchmarking, annual profit/loss statements and
financial summaries of any department business plans.
+ Installs new terminals, printers and other system hardware.
Coordinates with the Biomed department regarding cable and
termination requirements of the lab system.
+ Performs weekly and monthly operations of the laboratory computer
system. Monitors daily operations, modifies and adds operation
print jobs, and documents any changes to operations.
+ Promotes client service by investigating and resolving problems
with the reporting of patients test results and patient and client
bills for nursing service, physicians and the reference
laboratory.
+ Develops programs for writing management reports from the LIS to
be used by the laboratory administration.
+ Orders supplies for the laboratory printers (papers, ribbons,
toner, etc).
+ Assists the Laboratory Information Systems Supervisor in
determining additional hardware requirements of the system and
preparing the budget for the computer system.
+ Is responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality of patient
information.
**Qualifications**
**Education:** Requires a Bachelor degree in medical technology or
in chemistry, biology, or related field with one-year clinical
internship in approved medical technology program. Must be
registered as a medical technologist by the American Society of
Clinical Pathologists.
**Experience:** Requires three years experience working in a
clinical laboratory.
