Primary Location: AR > LITTLE ROCK > ST VINCENT INFIRMARY
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for ongoing development, implementation, and daily coordination of Perioperative Nursing Programs including: Perioperative Track of the RN Residency Program, New Experiences RN Internship Program and Surgical Technologist Internship Program. Coordinates scheduling and logistics of calendars and classes for RN Residency Program and Nurse Extern Program. Orients new hires in the above Nursing Programs in the perioperative areas, including teaching didactic classes following the AORN curriculum and directly supervising clinical practice in the perioperative areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BSN required. MSN preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current unencumbered RN license to practice in State of Arkansas, professional certification within two years of hire into position, and professional membership required.

Experience: 3 years nursing experience in the perioperative setting required, 5 years preferred.

Physical Requirements:The physical activities involve balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping,
kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, and use of fingers and repetitive movements.
An individual in this position may be required to carry or lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull 100-150 lbs. Sensory
and communicative activities required for this position include feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling, and speaking.
Individuals in this position could be exposed to inside/outside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens body fluids chemical hazards, respiratory hazards and radiological hazards.

Skills: Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrated organizational skills. Must be
proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work collaboratively and be self-motivated. Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

Nurse Leaders, Co-workers, and Physicians

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Nurse Manager of RN Residency

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Human Resources Management
---Participates in interviews and provides feedback in selection of applicants for Nursing Programs
---Provides input for coaching and performance evaluation of co-workers in Nursing Programs
---Monitors clinical performance and provides real time feedback to co-workers in the Nursing Programs
---Schedules and supervises the perioperative experiences and clinical rotations for participants in the appropriate Nursing Programs
---Fit tests new hires in the Nursing Programs
---Works cooperatively with the leadership of perioperative services to develop optimal clinical experiences

Fiscal Management
---Assists in development and achievement of departmental budgets
---Effectively manages materials and supply usage for skills labs.
---Manages productivity of co-workers in the perioperative areas of Nursing Programs
---Maintains current demographics and retention data for RN Programs

Communication
---Communicates professionally, in writing and verbally, with co-workers and customers
---Serves as professional role model and demonstrates the use of appropriate communications in stressful situations
---Maintains confidentiality of Nursing Program participants' information

Leadership
---Assists in communicating a shared vision, mission and values
---Utilizes ongoing performance improvement process to achieve desired quality outcomes.
---Collaborates with inter-professional co-workers to meet the learning needs of co-workers in Nursing Programs.
---Participates on councils/committees as assigned.
---Participates in recognition/celebrating milestones in Nursing Programs

Clinical Practice
---Maintains competence in areas of perioperative clinical practice
---Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care according to established standards, policies and procedures.
---Participates in educational programs to enhance own clinical competence
---Teaches classes and coordinates clinical rotations to meet the learning needs of participants in the Nursing Programs.
---Incorporates research findings and evidence-based practice into clinical experiences and classes for co-workers in Nursing Programs
---Demonstrates flexibility in adapting to changes in the perioperative areas when facilitating clinical learning assignments for co-workers
---Maintains requirements necessary to perform Fit Testing

Job Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering the highest quality patient care according to the specific orders of each patient's individual physician. This will involve, utilizing your knowledge and skills to educate patients and their families on prevention and healthy habits.

Additional responsibilities for this health care role include:

  • Monitoring patients' conditions and assessing their needs
  • Collaborating with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients
  • Administering patients' medications and providing treatments according to physicians' orders
  • Fostering a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
    Job Requirements
    We are looking for a responsible and compassionate Registered Nurse with top-notch clinical skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process.

    Additional requirements for this role include:
    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
    • Experience as a Registered Nurse preferred
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
    • Specialty certification (ex: CCRN, CNOR, CEN) preferred
    • Additional certification or licensure may be required for some specialty areas
