JOB SUMMARY: The APN is a licensed professional nurse that works
under the supervision and direction of collaborating physicians or
the Medical Director for the Hospitalist program; they provide
direct, comprehensive, preventative and therapeutic healthcare to
patients and families including assessment, diagnosis, treatment,
prescription, counseling and instruction in compliance with Nurse
Practitioner Protocols and all regulations governing APNs. The APN
may provide healthcare for which the APN is educationally prepared
and for which competence has been attained and maintained.
Responsible for all aspects of coordination of Hospitalist program
including fiscal accountability, time and resources. Perform other
duties as assigned.
Education: Current APN licensure in Arkansas. Documentation
compliant with the State Nursing Board of satisfactory completion
of a nurse practitioner educational program and completion of
preceptorship. Eligibility for a Medicare provider number and DEA
Experience: Experience in APN patient care.
Physical Requirements: This job requires, at various times, the
following physical activities; climbing, balancing, stopping,
kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, carrying, walking,
pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling,
talking, and hearing, sometimes exerting in excess of 20-100 pounds
of force. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to
perform daily activities. May be subject to inside environmental
conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to
high heat and chemicals), infectious diseases, and may be required
to function around prisoners and mental patients.
Skills: Knowledge to independently provide direct, comprehensive,
preventative, and therapeutic healthcare to individuals and family
members using the Nurse Practitioner Protocols/Advanced Practice
Nurse. Knowledge and ability to perform technical and routine
clinic procedures. Must have excellent verbal and written
communication skills. Employee s work must be efficient and
accurate. Must function effectively as a member of a
