Requisition ID 2019-59915 Category Professional Position Type Regular Full-Time Department VCF Hospital Cost Acctg & Decision Supt Post End Date 7/4/2019 Overview The Hospital Cost Analyst will be responsible for planning, performing and coordinating the allocation methodology for each clinical department. This involves working with each department to determine the necessary re-classes to match revenue and expenses. This involves working with each department to determine the necessary re-classes to match revenue and expenses. * Determines the most appropriate way to allocate each of the overhead cost centers to revenue producing cost centers. * Determines the most appropriate step-down process and develops the mapping for this process in the cost allocation software. * Audits the outcome at each stage of the allocation process: general ledger allocation, allocation of general ledger expense to the procedures and allocation of the procedure cost to the patient encounters. * Responsible for the allocated procedure costs for the patient encounter data set each month after the monthly integration of encounters for each fiscal year being updated. * Audits the outcome before releasing cost data to be used in analytical reports. * Plans and performs cost studies of patient procedures. * Works with patient care providers to determine the resources utilized to perform the procedure. * Utilizes this information within the allocation process to set an RVU for the procedure. * Generates reports as needed for Hospital Management from the decision support system. * Performs other projects as assigned by Manager, follows appropriate methodology and standards, meeting or exceeding appropriate deadlines. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Health Administration or related field PLUS 3 years of experience in hospital cost accounting and general ledger systems OR 3 years of experience in hospital financial reporting/analysis. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Health Administration or related field PLUS 7 years of experience in hospital cost accounting and general ledger systems OR 7 years of experience in hospital financial reporting/analysis. Preferred Skills: * Must be able to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy. * Strong oral, written and listening skills with the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization. * Organization and time management skills. * Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
