The interchange of ideas from a diverse group of people gives our teams an expanded perspective and the ability to find better solutions for our clients.**Company :** Black & Veatch Corporation**Req Id :** 63982**Job Title :** Technology Manager - Energy Storage Systems**Location :** USVRTL**Business Unit Sector :** COR-GMEPI-SC SOL SRV PORTFOLIO**Opportunity Type :** Staff**Relocation eligible :** No**Full time/Part time :** Full-Time**Project Only Hire :** No**Visa Sponsorship Available:** Yes**Job Summary**The **Energy Storage Technology Manage** r leverages extensive energy storage domain expertise with a broad range of technical, sales, marketing, project management and business expertise to support successful implementation of the **Black & Veatch Energy & Process Industries** strategy while positioning the company with emerging market opportunities in order to ensure our solutions meet future client needs.**Key Responsibilities**--- Stays up to date on technology development within the industry through investigations, evaluations, conferences and relationships with clients, peers, industry entities, national labs, technology developers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).--- Works with business area leadership to recommend Black & Veatch strategies for applicable technologies including strategic planning for future technology areas to position and differentiate Black & Veatch in the market.--- Develops and maintains technology-specific annual budget for thought leadership, innovation, and special projects; updated quarterly.--- Leads the investigation/screening of new technologies and coordinates with internal stakeholders to develop business cases leading to new technology-oriented solutions and offerings.--- Manages technology-specific internal projects for the development & implementation of new and/or improved solutions.--- Leads innovation efforts to improve on past projects through design expertise, execution input, and implementation of manufacturer improvements.--- Supports ongoing marketing efforts as an industry-facing technical expert with clients, vendors and contractors; developing B brand awareness through thought leadership activities (industry-wide conferences, presentations, papers, webinars, etc.)--- Supports sales/business capture process with direct client engagement including activities such as conducting workshops, or other similar presentations, and supporting development of client/project optimized solutions.--- Supports services and E proposal processes as an advisor and provides technology risk assessments & mitigation, performance-based equipment procurement options analysis, performance guarantee, and liquidated damages analysis.**Management Responsibilities**Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.**Preferred Qualifications**--- Deep knowledge of **BESS** (Battery Energy Storage Systems) both **FTM** (front of the meter) and **BTM** (behind the meter), and its associated safety systems, including awareness of emerging storage technology that provides a variety of time scales: fast; short, medium, long duration.--- Knowledge o **f hybrid configurations of storage paired with generation technologies: renewables and conventional.**--- **Conversant with thermal** (sensible, latent, and pumped heat) and **mechanical energy storage technologies** including their respective charging and discharging subsystems. Competent in assessing pros and cons.--- Capabilities to mentor and/or train BV engineering professionals as follows: to be **knowledgeable of suppliers of major equipment** ; to accomplish techno-economic analysis of storage systems **(LCC, ROI/IRR, LCOE/LCOS)**--- Solid understanding of engineering technical skills, risks, financials, economics, sales, and marketing as related to **solution development & implementation** .--- Demonstrated ability to **identify and assess existing and emerging technologies** .--- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make decisions based on thorough research and analysis.--- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.--- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.--- Self-motivated and well organized.--- Experience in building and presenting business cases to senior leadership.--- Experience working through others to maximize the impact of a team.--- Strong project management skills with the ability to take projects from conceptualization to inception through completion.--- 7+ years experience in energy storage industry with application experience.--- Master of Scienceor PhD in Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Businessor MBA or other relevant field.**Minimum Qualifications**Bachelor of science degree.All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.**Work Environment/Physical Demands**Typical office environment: Sitting/standing/computer-usage for extended periods of time. Ability to utilize audio/video conferencing software for internal/external communication purposes.Typical construction environment: extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation).
