Job Description
Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale
global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud
Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on development and support
of network fabric and systems through a combination of a deep level
understanding of networking at the protocol level coupled with
programming skills to support the intensive automation required to
operate a production environment. As OCI is a cloud-based network
with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of
thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers,
connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the
Internet.
The selected candidate will be joining the Optical Network
Engineering team which is responsible for building and scaling
Oracle's DWDM Transport Network. The team is focused on engineering
and enabling the deployment of DWDM transport systems. The
successful candidate will have a direct impact on our top priority
of delivering optical capacity and engineering solutions to support
Oracle's cloud infrastructure to provide metro DWDM optical
transport solutions in support of the needs of the network. To
continue to drive down costs for equipment and services for DWDM.
To train other teams to deploy and operate optical systems. To
provide operations support to ensure availability and uptime of the
DWDM network. To develop standards for engineering, deployment, and
operations. To write code enabling the acceleration of our
engineering cycles.
The optical network Engineer will have excellent written and verbal
communication and collaboration habits that will enable them to
operate with a high level of agility and autonomy.
Responsibilities
Plan and detail engineering of Optical network for capacity
expansion & new region builds.
Plan and implement network changes in a high availability
environment.
Develop engineering skills inside of Optical Engineering and in
peer groups.
Work with data center operations providing support during new
capacity additions and changes on the optical network.
Review OTDR/CD/PMD test reports for inside plant and outside plant
fiber acceptance.
Own optical network infrastructure documentation, responsible for
updating and maintaining network drawings and plans for both
operational purposes and new builds.
Create and maintain optical network designs for metro, regional and
long-haul DWDM systems.
Work with the engineering team to define optical standards and best
practices for deployment.
Maximizing network performance by troubleshooting network problems
and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network
architects on network optimization.
Participate in FOA and field trials of new platforms and
technologies.
Work with the network qualification team to test and incorporate
net platforms into the network.
Contribute code with development teams for foundations of
automation tools with a perspective of transport systems and
operational best practices.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific

California Pay Range: from $97,800 to $201,300 per annum. May be
eligible for bonus and equity.
Colorado Pay Range: from $92,400 to $181,200 per annum. May be
eligible for bonus and equity.
New York City Pay Range: from $92,400 to $191,200 per annum. May be
eligible for bonus and equity.
Washington Pay Range: from $103,300 to $191,200 per annum. May be
eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to
account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market
conditions, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products,
industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the
preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years
of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working
between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20
hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
