Description Regional Automation Engineer Principal level automation engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership in automated medical device assembly and packaging. Work with Phillips-Medisize manufacturing facilities and other shared resources to develop novel automation solutions to provide comparative advantage for the organization. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes and standards throughout Phillips-Medisize organization. What You Will Do In Your Role Develop automation proposals using internal and external resources, evaluating size of opportunity, technical requirements, cost constraints, and timing. Evaluate proposals from global automation vendors for technical feasibility, Develop and establish cost estimates, project options, and design alternatives.Support programs regionally and globally in coordination with the Principal Automation Engineer.Support and occasionally lead Automation Council initiatives and/or continuous improvement activities.Author automation specification and qualification documentation (URS, FAT test cases, SAT test cases, etc.).Participate in and lead equipment design reviews and PFMEA development activities.Provide meaningful and insightful design review feedback to equipment suppliers.Extended travel to other facilities may be required to support business needs.Working knowledge of 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and MS Office applications.Medical device manufacturing experience required in contract manufacturing environment.Root cause analysis to identify and correct issues with automated equipment The Experience You Will Bring Requirements: Bachelors degree in Engineering or technical field (or equivalent mix of education and experience).Minimum of 5 years of experience in automated assembly and packaging of medical devices.Excellent communication skills, particularly with customer interactions.Demonstrated experience with management of complex manufacturing projects involving high-cost capex. Ability to travel domestically and internationally to customer, supplier, and Phillips-Medisize facilitiesStrong DFM/DFA and automated assembly and packaging equipment design knowledge. What Will Put You Ahead Some knowledge of injection molding and materialsExperience with automated assembly processes (robotics, ultrasonic and laser welding, pad printing, laser marking, material transfer, etc.)Machine design capabilitiesGAMP 5 validation and documentation experience.Strong DFM/DFA and automated assembly and packaging equipment design knowledge.Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred Salary and Benefits Commensurate with Experience.
