Job TitleSenior Research Instrumentation SpecialistAgencyTexas A&M Agrilife ResearchDepartmentFood Science & TechnologyProposed Minimum SalaryCommensurateJob LocationCollege Station, TexasJob TypeStaffJob DescriptionResponsibilities and Essential Job Duties:Monitor and direct daily LINAC operation and associated mechanical, electrical, and electronic systemsMaintain safe working environment and compliance with safety regulations and facility SOPsMaintain a balance of in-house spare parts and vendor supplied components to maximize the up-time available of all equipment.Maintain accurate complete records of all the machine's operation, calibration, and maintenanceManage maintenance and repair with limited operational downtimeManage and direct processing floor activities, maintenance, and production for commercial activity in consultation with the Facility ManagerPromote and coordinate LINAC system upgrades and improvements in consultation with the Facility ManagerDevelop and implement an in-house LINAC technician training program in consultation with the Facility ManagerCoordinate with the Facility Manager and QA Manager to maintain a robust QA/QC program, as it relates to equipment validations and equipment and irradiation performanceAd hoc duties, which may include, but not limited to, materials handling, facility visitor tours, product reception, etc.Other duties as requiredRequired Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electronics or field related to high energy eBeam and X-Ray technologies (or equivalent combination of education and experience including extensive experience with the technology in lieu of the college degree can be considered in exceptional circumstance).Eight years of experience in repairing, operating, and maintaining scientific instrumentation, to include some supervisory experiencePreferred Education and ExperienceMaster's degree or higher in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electronics, or field related to high energy eBeam and X-Ray technologiesExperience with relevant equipment vendorsExperience with daily operations, maintenance, and repairing of LINAC and conveyance systemsRequired knowledge abilities and skills:Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work as part of a small teamAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to multitask and work cooperatively with others.Preferred knowledge abilities and skills:Ability to fabricate parts, repairs, etc. as needed and where applicable.Mechanical, electrical, and electronic capabilitiesTechnical troubleshooting skills and ability to implement creative solutionsExperience with implementing and executing a robust preventative maintenance program to achieve very high equipment up-time and minimal down-time.Awareness and compliance with current relevant regulatory practices and current industry standards.All positions are security-sensitive.
