manufacturing vertical, to find them both a Sr. Forester as well as
an entry level Forester to be added to their rapidly growing team.

What will you be doing?Job DescriptionFull asset management and
decision-making responsibilities for a timberlands unit of fee
ownership (normally over +/- 100,000 acres). Responsible for all
environmental, property management, silviculture and harvest
planning activities for the unit, with direct supervisory
responsibilities for professional foresters and contractors. Acts
as the key point of contact for other area staff, landowners,
contractors and the general public. Financial Management - Prepare
annual operating and capital budget for an assigned management
area. - Responsible for performance and expenditures compared with
budgets and objectives. - Responsible for financial and volume
projections for harvesting and silviculture on an annual, quarterly
and monthly basis. - Manage all operational projects in a
cost-effective manner to return maximum value, including maximizing
all log values to customersPlanning & Operations - Develop
operational plans to achieve district and region level strategies.
- Develop one and five-year harvesting, silviculture and road plans
on an assigned management unit. - Develop a road plan that
identifies new construction needs, re-construction, rocking and
maintenance needs on an assigned management unit. - Responsible for
execution of plans for reforestation, thinning, herbicide use,
animal control, fertilization, surveying, forest inventory and
slash management on an assigned management unit. - Coordinate with
the Marketing Manager and District Foresters in the development of
strategic marketing plans. Adjust harvest plans to meet customer
commitments and optimize on current conditions.Contract
Administration - Manage all contracting and inspecting activities
for an assigned management unit. - Appraise, negotiate and
administer contracts related to silviculture and harvesting
activities. - Inspect operations to ensure compliance with site
activity plans, standard operating procedures, safety requirements
and other contractual obligations. - Ensure log sorting, log
quality, delivery targets and site objectives are met for an
assigned management unit. - Review invoices for payment.Supervision
- Lead, supervise and direct employees to achieve District and Unit
objectives. - Assure employees receive the training necessary for
high levels of performance. - Coach and mentor employees to excel
and grow within or beyond their position. - Conduct annual
performance reviews to provide feedback and set goals and
priorities. - Participate in the evaluation and management of
contractor performance. - Perform special or occasional duties as
required such as public relations activities, presentations, tours
and other assigned projects.Asset Management - Assist management in
the development and implementation of land asset management
strategies. This includes parcel selection for acquisition,
disposal, trade, harvest sequencing and market timing. - Assist in
the appraisal of properties for acquisition or disposal. -
Administer all non-timber activities on assigned RMU. This includes
leases, special uses, surveys, adjacent landowner interactions and
stakeholder relations.Safety & Environmental - Actively participate
in the compliance of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) by
employees and contractors and ensure compliance with safety
programs, environmental standards and Best Management Practices
(BMP's).
What do you need to qualify?
- Bachelor's Degree in Forestry or related field required. -
Candidate will display full competency in forestry and timber
management operations generally associated with 8-10 years of
qualifying experience (for the Senior role, will consider
candidates right out of school for the Entry level position). -
Proficient in LRM (Land Resource Management System), Adaptive
InSights (Budget & Projection Management Tool), Global Positioning
System (GPS) applications or outside equivalent and MS Office
Products.) - Demonstrated multitasking, planning and organizational
skills. - Ability to lead a +/- 100,000 acre assigned management
area in an efficient manner.
