The Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) is a campus of the University
of Arkansas System that serves a unique population of
non-traditional students-certified law enforcement professionals
who are actively employed within our State's police departments and
sheriff's offices. The Institute is committed to making communities
safer by supporting law enforcement professionals through training,
education, resources and collaborative partnerships. Utilizing both
classroom-based instruction and practical, hands-on application,
CJI provides an educational experience designed to enhance the
performance and professionalism of law enforcement in progressive
areas of criminal justice, including law enforcement leadership and
management, crime scene investigation, computer applications,

Summary of Job Duties:
This position is responsible for the implementation and maintenance
of computer and network programs, hardware and software projects,
and other computer and network-related activities of the Criminal
Justice Institute. The IT Coordinator acts as an information
technology advisor and technical point of contact for CJI staff and
law enforcement personnel. This position is governed by CJI and the
University of Arkansas policy and procedures and state and federal
law.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential
job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial,
harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: Other job-related education and/or
experience may be substituted for
all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the
Director of the Criminal Justice Institute.
Required Qualifications:
1. A four-year degree in an IT-related field and 3+ years working
in Windows server administration in an Active Directory
environment.
2. Three years of experience with network support and
administration.
3. Three years of experience with LAN/WAN design and
installation.
4. Experience with Azure cloud tools or services or Microsoft
365.
5. Have a minimum of three years' experience with Microsoft
Exchange.
6. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted
for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Computer and networking certifications preferred.
2. At least five years of Senior (Advanced) Windows administration
experience.
3. Experience scripting experience with PowerShell.
4. Extensive experience with server patching with tools such as
SCCM.
5. Experience with supporting server, storage, and SAN
infrastructure.
6. Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V.

server applications and Virtual Server technology VMware and
Hyper-V.
7. Experience with Backup software and hardware
8. Experience with server administration
9. Experience with next-gen antivirus, EDR, XDR, etc.
10. Experience and working knowledge with a Hybrid Active Directory
environment
11. Experience with Azure Cloud solutions such as Intune, Defender
for Endpoint, Sentinel, etc.
12. A thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet,
and TCP/IP networking
13. TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH,
SMTP, etc.
14. Experience with network monitoring software.
15. Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as network
packet sniffers.
16. Experience troubleshooting network connectivity with desktop
and server operating systems such as Windows Server.
17. Experience with the latest Windows networking environments.
18. Experience with network hardware components, including routers,
switches, hubs, wireless and other network devices.
19. Ability to explain complex technical topics to business and IT
practitioners clearly and convincingly
20. Troubleshooting focused on determining hardware vs. software,
hardware vs. firmware, software vs. operating system, network vs.
application/systems, and patterned vs. non-repeatable problems
21. Experience with MS Office Tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, and Visio
22. Configuration, and troubleshooting of network equipment from
Cisco, Dell, and HP.
23. A thorough understanding of internet working concepts and
protocols.
24. Ability to research utilizing online sources and to network
with other team members and off-campus professionals.
25. Dependability - is consistently at work and on time, follows
instructions, responds to management direction, and responds to
management feedback to improve performance.
