Job Description of LaborerThe Laborer is responsible for
responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of roads, bridges, and
surrounding grounds, and for directing traffic around work sites.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and requires handling
and occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals.EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:Completion of standard grade school courses with the
ability to read and write.Requirements
Must have or be able to immediately
obtain a valid Arkansas Driver's License.Must have a stable work
history. -Employment is contingent upon the successful completion
of a pre-employment job-related physical and traffic offense check.
-This position is safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug
and alcohol testing. -ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Put signs up informing motorists of
traffic situations or dangers.Rake gravel, shovel and smooth
asphalt on roads, and fill potholes.Direct traffic around
construction sites using flags.Cut weeds and grass along roads and
intersections, and trim trees for appearance and motorist
visibility.Drive pick-up truck carrying county employee workers to
work sites.Install street signs and marker posts for public
information. - -REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to perform heavy manual
labor.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Ability to
work independently and as a team member.Ability to work in all
types of weather conditions.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Digital dexterity is necessary for
equipment operation.Capable of frequent walking, climbing,
stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending.Ability to lift and carry
loads up to 50 pounds.Ability to work in a constant state of
alertness and in a safe manner.Ability to concentrate for long
