Culture Coordinator
The Culture Coordinator is a behavior management specialist who collaborates with the Assistant Principal, Student Support Services Coordinator, and counselor to implement the school's emotional intelligence framework and culture plans. This role involves coordinating Functional Assessments of Behavior and Behavior Intervention Plans to address inappropriate student behaviors and support their academic success. The Culture Coordinator also supports classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies, leads Townhall meetings, and facilitates student activities, providing support, monitoring, and training using behavior management techniques, intervention strategies, coping skills, and problem-solving for students with behavioral challenges.

The Culture Coordinator for grades K-8 will support the school's culture initiatives with positive behavior supports and programs. In addition, the Culture Coordinator will work directly with identified students to help them adopt behaviors that substantially increase their academic performance, including those identified in Child Study and those requiring behavior intervention and support. Under the supervision of the Assistant Principal, the Culture Coordinator will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted students to cultivate core competencies and reduce misbehaviors.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

School Culture:

  • Establish a positive school culture through the implementation of the district's Social Emotional Intelligence Program.
  • Establish a working relationship with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Teach the Behavior Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct to parents and teachers.
  • Conduct New Student Orientations.
  • Administer pre- and post-tests of the Student Code of Conduct and maintain files as evidence.
  • Lead Townhall Meetings.
  • Monitor student transitions, bathrooms, cafeteria, playground, arrival, and dismissal.
  • Manage Kickboard and Incentive Program Behavior Management
    • With supervision, develop, implement, and monitor behavior management systems, behavioral programs, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed; train staff in how to implement these and monitor for fidelity.
      • Collaborate in creating observable and measurable behavioral IEP goals and objectives.
      • Provide regular progress updates on goals per district and/or SELPA reporting schedule.
      • Create data collection systems to monitor and report on effectiveness of interventions and recommendations and track progress on IEP goals.
      • Generate data sheets as needed for student programs. Provide individual and/or group social skills trainings (i.e. pro-social communication, anger management, conflict resolution, etc.) to students.
      • Act on all discipline referrals and student misbehaviors by applying the Behavior Management Plan incentives and consequences.
        Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions, providing behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated, and ample practice.
        Review behavior referrals, enter consequences into Kickboard, and generate weekly data reports.
        Manage out-of-class resets by providing Think Sheets and behavior modification strategies to students.
        Maintain daily Discipline Trackers and provide daily feedback and updates to teachers. Attendance Monitoring:
        • Monitor student attendance, send attendance letters for 3, 5, and 7 absences.
        • Maintain attendance trackers and conduct home visits as needed. Parental Engagement:
          • Participate in IEP, 504 and other parent meetings
          • Notify parents of out-of-class resets and hold parent conferences.
          • Maintain student, teacher, and parent conference logs.
            Provide recognition for a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors. Supervision and Conflict Resolution:
            • Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive.
            • Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions.
            • Participate in building-level SST team and/or grade-level meetings, as appropriate.
            • Consult with the school guidance counselor, Assistant Principal, principal, and teachers.
              Compliance and Safety:

              Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report all unsafe activities to the supervisor.
              Foster strong positive relationships with families and collaborate with the school leadership team to provide ongoing programming that reflects families' needs and interests.
              The Culture Coordinator will be a visible and engaged leader in the school community, demonstrating a commitment to creating a positive, supportive, and effective learning environment for all students.
              Skills & Requirements
              Knowledge and understanding of IDEA and Special Education

              Ability to acquire all necessary training to ensure effectiveness in this role.

              Administrative Skills: management of data, trackers, and relevant information

              Collaborative - ability to work well with teachers, parents, staff and students.
