  Summary of Job Duties:
  The patient care technician directly assists the nurse, PA, physician and Ortho team with clinic procedures and tasks, surgery scheduling, and associated administrative and clinic duties.
  
  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  
  Collects and documents assessment data and provides patient education
  Assist with patient physicals and lab draws
  Responds to patient questions appropriately and address patient concerns.
  Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
  Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
  Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments
  Follow the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines
  Provide medical coverage for UAMS-contracted sporting and racing events
  Assit with administrative duties, including insurance verification/authorization and surgery scheduling

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Successful completion of PCT course within 3 months of hire Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Patient Care: The PCT must demonstrate proficiency in providing basic patient care
    • Patient Safety: The PCT must adhere to established patient safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring the safety of both patients and staff members
    • Communication: Effective communication skills are essential as the PCT interacts with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members.
    • Documentation: Accurate and timely documentation of all patient-related activities is required, including vital signs, intake/output, and medication administration
    • Organization: The PCT must possess strong organizational skills, including maintaining clean and organized work environments and accurately tracking patient supplies.
    • Teamwork: Collaboration with the healthcare team is essential, as the PCT supports and assists with patient care needs.
    • Physical stamina and the ability to work under pressure are essential qualities; Must be able to lift 50lbs. to waist height Preferred Qualifications:
      • Patient care experience in an acute care setting
      • Experience with casting/splinti
